Recently, Redeemer City to City, tweeted a statement from Ray Bakke about the gospel in the Koran: “There is enough gospel in the Koran to lead people to Jesus. Know the Koran.” In my own limited study of the Koran, I find that statement hard to believe. I do not know the full context of that statement, so what I say is only a response to the tweet. If Jesus is the Gospel and the Koranic Jesus is not the Jesus of history nor of Scripture, how can there be gospel in the Koran? If the Koranic Jesus is not God, not crucified, then he is not Jesus.
